About this course

This programme provides an integrated understanding of the operational, measurement, commercial, and contractual aspects of marine petroleum transportation.
Attendee will learn how to follow the tanker transaction from vessel nomination and terminal arrival through cargo measurement, loading/discharge, custody transfer, voyage monitoring, loss reconciliation, laytime calculation, and demurrage claim management.
This course will also demonstrate why
+ Demurrage calculations are fundamentally a contract interpretation exercise combined with time arithmetic.
+ The charter party gives the charterer a certain amount of “free time” to load or discharge the vessel.
+ If the charterer uses more than that allowed time, the excess time is charged at the agreed demurrage rate. Does this time count against the charterer's laytime allowance under the charter party?

Who should attend

  • Marine and terminal operations personnel
  • Crude oil and petroleum product operators
  • Petroleum measurement specialists
  • Marine superintendents
